World Standards Day - an international date, designed to draw people's attention to the importance associated with the creation of common standards of action and give a well-deserved tribute to the joint efforts of tens of thousands of professionals who devote their lives and professional skills necessary and responsible work. World Standards Day is celebrated worldwide every year on 14 October.
Date for "World Standards Day" was not chosen by chance, because on this day, 14 October, 1946 in the British capital city of London conference opened national standards organizations. The conference was attended by 65 delegates from 25 countries, including the Soviet Union. The main event of the conference, can rightly be called the creation of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). At the present time, in ISO structure includes 162 countries have their own national standards organizations.
In 1970, ISO President Farouk Sunter from Turkey proposed to celebrate World Standards Day every year to highlight the importance of standardization for all economies around the world. The choice fell on the day of the date of the formation of "International Organization for Standardization."
Every year the holidays pass under a certain motto. In 2015, the motto - "Standards - this language, which is spoken by the whole world"
